Mental Instability

Yesterday Night's dream was the heights of mental instability. This is not the first time that I got a strange dream, but yesterday's dream was actually a mix of the movies I watched during the weekend and my current work tensions.

Dreams are mostly based on what we see in our day to day life or what we want to see. Everyone gets dreams, but what kind of dreams people get and how frequent do they get matters a lot. If you get dreams like me, i.e. every night, then you are actually mentally unstable just like me.

Well, I am not a neurosurgeon or a real scientist who is doing research on dreams so let me not go into technicalities of dreams and write what I saw.

I hope you people are not going to call Erragadda for the 500Rs. Please let me know in case you are thinking so, we can negotiate :)

This weekend, I watched 4 movies; 2 of them were Inception and Despicable me. From past two weeks I am actually tensed about my release from my job. So how do you think these two movies can be related to my release in my dream?

So, my dream was something like this. I am at my office busy in a meeting, of course my release meeting. I was negotiating with my manager regarding the release and he actually accepted it. Hurray!!! But then, he said I should work very diligently for the next one month. I happily nodded my head and moved towards my cubicle. Now at my cubicle, my manager enters and asks me the status of the work which he gave me the last time. Now here I remember that in my last dream a few days back I was assigned a work (i.e. I know I am dreaming now and this dream is a continuation of my previous dream where I was actually assigned a work). Now, you can clearly relate this to the movie inception.

So, I say them, yeah the work is done. He asks me to show it. And now...suddenly we are in open air standing in front of a roman Colosseum  Yeah, building a roman Colosseum was the task assigned to me in my last dream. So here comes the despicable me part, where actually the pyramid of Egypt went missing and replaced with a dummy pyramid.

Well, the funniest part of this dream was that I built a Colosseum  the way it looks now i.e. broken and dilapidated and actually the Colosseum was built out of red bricks, leave aside the plastering I wonder if there was any cement in between those bricks to hold them together.

Now that's how my mind reacted to the last week's work pressure and tensions. Total gone case!!!

Who is the Best in Being the Worst???

How many of you have complaints that people at government offices do not work at all, never complete things on time, never help people, never work without taking money??? How many of you are tired of files being passed from one table to another, every person pointing to the other person as the point of contact?

If you are complaining about this and want all the government offices to be privatized, please think again. You are putting yourselves in a much bigger trouble.

I work in a private sector. Recently I went to my manager and told him that I want to quit the company. He first smiles, then he sighs, then he asks..."what happened?" I tell my story and he comes up with his standard lame offers to make me stay back. I directly reject his offer and asks him to plan my release.

The next day when I ask him, what’s the update on my release and why am i being assigned a 6 months project at this point, he again sighs and tells me in his totally unprofessional slang "you seeee, the onsite manager for this project is on leave, he will be back on Tuesday. For now you continue with the project, when he is back we will talk and then you can transition this project to someone else".  (What do you think I playing some April fool trick on you when I say I am quitting???Goddammit... Understand... your project is at RISK!!!) Then he says "Look the client manager wants you to handle the project. We can’t tell them directly that you are leaving. So its better you start with the project and then we can slowly tell them". (What f****** nonsense is this??? You are not giving any death news that you have to be cautious about the client not getting a heart attack!!!)

Well, I thought its better I go ahead and talk to the client manager and let him know the truth. But "No!!!" my project manager is very smart in thinking that I have the guts(for him)/confidence(for me) to tell the client that I may not be able to take the tasks. So he calls me and pleads not to let the client know about this as of now. He says..."Look, I spoke to the onsite manager, he says that we have a discussion with the Senior project manager and Delivery manager tomorrow, so lets wait for their verdict" (Ohh great... Now the delivery manager will talk tomorrow and do some black magic on me so that I don’t quit the company)

My wait continues till the next day, just to listen that the Delivery manager is busy and the meeting is postponed to next day, so another day wasted.

The next day, my Senior Project manager and the Delivery Manager attend the meeting thinking that they will promise to give me Taj  Mahal if I don’t quit but they didn't know that I will quit even if they give me White house. So the meeting ended and my project manager lost all hopes.

Finding the date of relieving - The same day i meet my project manager "Can I get to know an approximate date of relieving?" He just dusts me out of his cubicle saying, "Ohh...that will be taken care of by Senior Project manager...contact him"

I go to my senior project manager he says "you see, its not easy to give a date just like that, we need some time. (And how much is that "some time"??? Indefinite??? Are you even managers who are supposed to plan for project for every quarter???? I think the servant maid in my house takes much faster decisions than our managers) Well, I was totally pissed off, so "If you can't give a date, then let me give you a date, I am not going to come after so and so date. That’s it". Now that scares them a little, ohh this girl has an offer if she leaves without teaching anything project will be in risk. So let us try to show some love and care. "Look, that’s not the way. We'll talk tomorrow. I have to talk to your Project manager and he has to tell how much time it is going to take for you to teach everything" (D'oh.....again.....project manager.... ) "Ohh you already spoke to your project manager, ok...then talk to the Delivery manager, he has to decide" (aarrghhhhhh..... what f****** nonsense is this!!!!)

I put a mail to my delivery manager saying that I want to meet him and also want the project manager and Senior Project manager to be present. The next day, he royally answers to the mail, "Talk to them only!! They have to deicide I have nothing to do in this case" (In case we have a re-incarnation of Abhimanyu from mahabharatha and if he was in my place, he would say that getting out of chakravyuha would have been much easier than getting a relieving date)

Picture abhi baaki hai mere dost!!! So I get back to my project manager and senior project manager together and tell them the situation. They try to point to the delivery manager again. Now this was the heights of my patience. All that was left was blackmail. "Boss, if you don’t release me, I'll give my 2 months’ salary to the HR and leave". Now comes the twist in the story, the main difference between the Government organizations and private organizations.

My manager listens to this dialog and smiles, "You think giving us money you can get rid of the project and get a release. It’s only when we approve then the HR will accept money and we are nowhere interested in taking money."

I don't work at a government office, but I know how it works. There were days when I thought, its good I work for a non-government organization, but soon I realized the problem is not in private or government companies. The problem is in the country we are in, where people are used to pointing to others, files changing desks for no reasons, no work being done on time but in one way at the government offices you can give some money and get your work done atleast, but in private organizations, you will come across such people who are worse than government officials

Mohandas

Last week I watched another non popular type movie called Mohandas.

Strange co-incidence, last movie a saying by Mohandas K Gandhi and the next Movie Mohandas.

It was neither the name of Mr. Gandhi which led me to this movie nor was it directed by Anurag Kashyap. The name that led me to this movie was Mr. Aditya Srivastata. This guy has something in him. You always need not be 6-pack macho personality or chocolate boy to get noticed. There are people like Mr Aditya Srivastava, who are somehow exceptionally talented and stand out in their roles, how ever small it may be only with their acting talent and not the fake 6-pack or plastic surgery's. Be it Satya, Gulaal, Black Friday or Mohandas, this actor has brought life to every role he was in.

Mazhar Karman the director of this movie. You already know one of his most popular movies "Satya". The role of Manoj Bajpayee in that movie was initially offered to Mr. Aditya Srivastata, but the producers were behind popular names than real talent. If Manoj Bajpayee wouldn't have been the lead actor in that movie, maybe you wouldn't have heard of Satya, yet it would release and the perfection of work done would be nothing less than what it is now.

Mohandas is a slow paced movie in the beginning, but soon it catches speed and things start happening. Nakul Vaid, Mohandas of the movie actually has very few dialogs and is most of the time missing. The main actors of the movie are Sonali kulkarni and Aditya Srivastava. Sonali Kulkarni has done a nice reporter job, while Aditya's role initially was a person who ignores the wrong, happening around him and then slowly he comes out to help Mohandas find his identity.

Well, the story line was average, but Sonali Kulkarni with her revolutionary dialogs, Nakul Vaid with his silence and Aditya Srivastava with his fight for justice made the movie a good time pass movie to watch.
