I am not a big fan of Mahatma Gandhi… But Yes, Today I have turned a big fan of Anurag Kashyap.
He is popular Bollywood film director, and mostly popular for his controversial story lines. After all truth is always bitter and bitter truth always leads to controversy.
Who said the 1st impression is the best impression???
The first movie I watched which was directed by Anurag Kashyap was Dev D. I must have watched it for 45mins and I was totally unimpressed with the story line. The only reason being, I have watched all the "Devdas" movies from black and white to SRK, Madhuri and Aishwarya and I always felt that the story was of the kind which can be watched with whole family. Devdas was a 20th century story and I wanted it to be the 20th century type. Imagining it as a 21st century story was really impossible for me.
Anurag Kashyap and his 1st magic on me!!!
Gulaal, A story based on Rajputana movement. Though the story started from a ragging scene at a college and fight for winning college elections, yet it had so much information about the Rajputana movement which hardly any of us have read anywhere.
The beauty of this movie lies in its real life story line, about how people of Rajputana fought for their freedom.
The beauty of this movie lies in its powerful dialogs mostly sayings by john Lennon.
The beauty of this movie lies in its songs. To tell about the songs in this movie, I fall short of words. Every word in every song will make so much meaning to the current situation of the country that you can never ever find such effective lyrics in any other movie. Especially, raanaji..., sarfaroshi ki tamanna... and duniya... are something one should never miss.
The movie which made me a big time fan of Anurag Kashyap!!!
Black Friday, A movie based on 1993 Bombay blasts. This one sentence is enough to explain the whole movie and the reality present in it. I was just 6-7 years old when this incident happened. Most of you like me wouldn't even have had an idea that such an incident ever happened in Bombay. This movie is a must watch for such people.
An Eye for an eye makes the whole world blind. This is a very apt line, which is clearly proved by this movie.
The beauty of this movie again lies in its true story line including true names of the people involved in it. You'll get to hear the names like Shiv Sena, Bal Thackeray, Advaani, Dawood Ibrahim and many such people who were involved in the incident directly or indirectly.
The beauty of this movie lies in its Cinematography. The bombing... , the babri masjid .., the victims... and the noise of blankness... in the blast scenes!!! The noise created by blankness explains every emotion in those blast scenes!!!
The beauty of this movie lies in its background score. Indian ocean has done a beautiful job with its numbers like bharam bhaanp ke..sharam dhaanp ke… and raat hindole pe baitha ek....
And finally the beauty of both the movies above also lies in the actor's and their performances which when compared to any of the popular bollywood actors would be an insult to their outstanding performances. The two common actors in both the movies who have brought life to their characters are Kay Kay Menon and Aditya Shrivastav.
